National Bush Summit

From Thursday 22nd August, political leaders and captains of industry will be gathering in Townsville for Friday’s 6th Annual National Bush Summit. Again, they will sing the praise Regional Australia’s contribution to the nation.

While many of our local regional leaders will be attending and be content to bask in the flattery of those who routinely exploit our wealth and giving little in return, WE need to be there to enlist their support for the creation of a Central & North Queensland State.

We encourage all REXIT members who are able to be in Townsville on Friday the 23rd August to join us in attendance at the Townsville leg of the 6th National Annual Bush Summit. Admission is free, though you need to register to secure tickets as details of all ticket holders are required.

Please do not apply for ticket unless you are able and have every intention of attending. If you are attending and secure tickets, please notify REXIT via bill.bates@rexit.au so our presence can be coordinated.

Edit (as reported): Cairns/FNQ accounts for 265,366 people (4.9 per cent), Central Queensland/Fitzroy 238,231 (4.4 per cent), Mackay/Isaac/Whitsunday 189,643 (3.5 per cent) and Townsville and northwest 308,421 (5.6 per cent), to total 1,001,661.

Corrected figures:
Cairns/FNQ = 298,829
Townsville/Northwest = 274,958
Central Queensland/Fitzroy = 238,231
Mackay/Isaac/Whitsunday = 189,643

The error was made by including Outback Far North (ABS, SA3 area) FNQ figures in with Townsville (SA4) /Northwest (SA3).
